Natural SPF, UV + photo-protection, Oil of Summer
Texture: Medium-weight oil that gives a nice moisturised feel on skin.
Scent: Mild fruity-sweet, summery and pleasant fragrance
Colour: Ochre orange, slightly cloudy
Skin/bodycare: Suitable for all skin types and all ages. A very gentle sun protection oil that gives good coverage for moderate sun exposure. Protects against all types of UV damage, DNA damage, prevents sunburns and lowers risk of skin cancer.
Best before 1.5 year from production date which can be found on the back label. When not using, kindly keep in the fridge for longer shelf life. These natural phyto-compounds are very sensitive to heat and sunlight; do keep them away to retain its best qualities.
SUNCARE is a sun protection oil that is made super safe for all ages and for anyone who has sensitive and/or damaged skin. There are 6 extracts/oils used in this formulation and 0 essential oils, therefore making it kids-friendly and also safe for pregnant and breast-feeding mothers.
The chosen botanicals:
- Red raspberry seed CO2 extract - SPF 28 to 50, PFA of 6.75 -7.5, effective UVB absorber and moderate UVA absorber
- Jojoba oil – absorbs all UVA between 320 – 345 nm and 65% of UVA after that
- Sweet almond oil - SPF 4.6, absorbs all UVA between 320 – 365 nm and 95% of UVA after that, , excellent UVA absorber
- Carrot root CO2 extract - Protects against sunburns by absorbing UV rays while nourishing skin cells and preventing damage associated with sun exposure. Photo-protective of cells and tissues.
- Sea buckthorn berry CO2 extract - High in beta-carotene, sea buckthorn berry has one of the most minerals and vitamins among all other plants. It is intensively used for skin repair and skin regeneration as it is able to feed the skin with tremendous amount of nutrients.
SUNCARE is able to protect our skin from UV damage from sun, LED lights such as lamps, computer and phone screens etc. SUNCARE also offers natural photoprotection which is a biochemical process which prevents oxidative stress and DNA damage caused by excessive sunlight. Many plants possess photoprotection activity as a defence mechanism against excessive or fluctuating light conditions.
What's the best takeaway? We are protecting our marine life when we switch to an all natural sun protection product! Commercial sunscreen/sunblock stays on the surface of your skin to help shield and deflect UV rays by utilising mostly synthetic and unfortunately marine-toxic ingredients in the formulation. - Use it like a moisturising oil, anytime when you need.
- Safe for any part of the body - face, arms, body, legs etc.
- Safe for infants (4 months and up), children, adults, pregnant women, breast-feeding mothers and the elderly. Safe for all skin types.
- Reapply periodically if you would be exposed during longer duration of sun, especially between 12pm to 5pm. Do wear extra sun protection gears/garments when going to be under long hours of sun.
- SUNCARE can be used as an after suncare remedy as well. Pair up with aloe vera gel for the best soothing skin repair combination.
Organic Rubus idaeus (red raspberry) seed extract, wild Cocos nucifera (coconut) fruit oil, organic Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, organic Prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) kernel oil, organic Hippophae rhamnoides (sea buckthorn) fruit extract, organic Daucus carota (carrot) root extract.
PRECAUTION
This is not a sunscreen, it is a sun protection oil. It is meant to protect you against UV damage. It does not prevent you from getting tanned (from excessive sun exposure) because it is not an opaque shield which is how a commercial sunscreen works. Please wear extra sun protective garments for long hours under sun.
More about plants and their UV protection
Plants produce UV protection compounds to protect themselves from the damage that excess UV radiation (from sunlight) can cause to its photosynthesis machinery. The more sun the plant is exposed to, the higher density of the sunscreening molecules it produces.
The botanical oils/extracts used in VIZÜ's SUNCARE and SUNGLOW are scientifically proven to be able to absorb a wide range of UVA and UVB rays; and then destroying these UV rays within your skin. This is a biomechanism that only exists in plants. Humans are capable but only at a tiny fraction of what plants can do, therefore we get sunburn unlike these chosen sun-loving botanicals. Many cosmetic compounds have been found entering the environment both through wastewater effluent and directly from swimmers wearing sunscreens and is now a banned ingredient in many parts of the world.
