Also known as the wild rue or mountain rue, this particular species is Syrian rue ( Peganum harmala)
, which is a powerful and complex plant traditionally used for its purifying, psychoactive, and protective properties. In Iran, Turkiye and Azerbaijan, dried rue are strung and hung in homes or vehicles to protect against the evil eye. It is widely used for protection against Djinn in Morocco.
I recommend the use of rue as a protective, evil-warding incense and for use as a purifying ritual tool.
