Scent: Strong, fresh, citronella-like odour and sweet balsamic undertone.
Aromatherapy: Mosquito and insect repellent, uplifting mood, helps relieve fatigue.
Blends well with: Peppermint, Spearmint, Lavender, Lavandin, Cedarwood, other citrus and wood oils.
Precautions: Non-toxic, non-irritant, possible sensitization in some individuals. Toxic when taken internally.
Lemon eucalyptus is beneficial for addressing shingles, urinary ailments, and arthritis.
Lemon eucalyptus oil’s bacteriostatic properties, due to the natural synergism between its citronellal and citronellol content, are active against S. aureus, the bacterium responsible for many skin infections, including MRSA.
Hence, the EO also makes an excellent addition to the natural cleaning products.
Herbal Folk Tradition
For hundreds of years, the Aborigines of Australia have used Lemon eucalyptus leaves for their antiseptic and healing actions.
In the mid-1800s, groves of Lemon eucalyptus trees were planted in swampy areas of North Africa to halt the spread of malaria.
The dried leaves were also used traditionally for perfuming linen cupboards plus repelling cockroaches and silverfish at the same time!
